Designed in the Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado, the 20 Incher Stone Fly was originally invented to imitate stonefly nymphs, and with its split biot tail, chunky ribbed peacock herl body, pronounced wingcase, and webby legs, it does a fine job at that. A large and calorie-rich food source, stoneflies are one of the biggest aquatic insects around, so this is a fly that can be fished in a size 8 without a fret, and it’s a great choice whether worked into a multi-nymph rig or just rolling the bottom.
