The Prince Nymph is a classic searching nymph and imitates a variety of flies rather than one specific hatch or insect. If small stoneflies are present, this is a great pattern. This fly features white wings, a black collar, a purple body with copper wire ribbing, and a black split tail. The gold bead head helps this fly sink quickly and makes this a productive pattern to use under an indicator or as a dropper off of a larger dry fly. This pattern works well across the US and around the world for trout that are less selective or feeding in deeper water. The Purple Prince differs in color from the original Prince Nymph, and when you're fishing in different water, this pattern can be easier for the fish to see. Plus, mixing up colors and showing the fish something different on heavily pressured rivers often leads to increased hookup rates.
