The Black Beauty is a small midge nymph that's ideal for tailwaters and tricky spring creeks. This improved version features a glass bead, a flashback body, and wire ribbing to give the fly more depth and flash in the water. The dubbing ball behind the bead creates a slightly thicker profile that's easier for the fish to see, and the wire rib adds durability to the fly. This is a great winter nymph when bug action is limited on many rivers, but it can also be productive in the spring and summer when fish are feeding on small bugs below the surface. Fish this fly under an indicator or as a dropper during a midge hatch.
