Uses

Starling feathers are most commonly used to tie soft hackles, especially smaller-sized flies. However, you can also use the wing feathers for small slip-wing dry flies and even wingcases on tiny nymphs. There really is no comparable item to Hareline's Starling Skins. While you can use a Hen Cape in order to tie soft hackles, they often don't have the small-sized feathers available on a Starling Skin.
