Epoxy Mysis Shrimp Fly

Epoxy Mysis Shrimp Fly

Mysis Shrimp were introduced to reservoirs and lakes in the mid-1900s. Since then, they've been an incredible food source for tailwater fisheries that flow out of bottom-release dams on these reservoirs. Most popular in the western US, Mysis Shrimp offer a large, protein-filled meal to hungry trout and help bolster fish health and fish size. The Epoxy Mysis is a popular pattern on these western tailwaters because of its simple design and durable nature. This fly is almost exclusively built with epoxy that creates a translucent body and a shrimp-like profile. These shrimp are most productive when fished under an indicator and often fool large fish just downstream from dams where large populations of shrimp are released from a reservoir. This pattern comes in a couple of different sizes, both small, to imitate the natural shrimp that are found in many tailwater fisheries.
