Daiichi 1250 Dennis Glass Bead Hooks

Daiichi 1250 Dennis Glass Bead Hooks

Glass beads make for easy-to-tie, ultra-realistic patterns, but finding a hook that accommodates all sizes of glass beads can be a challenge, that was until Dennis Brown and Daiichi came up with the 1250 Dennis Glass Bead Hooks. Built with a continuous bend, standard wire, 1x long shank, and slightly offset bend, this hook is a perfect choice for tying caddis larvae/pupae, scuds/sowbugs, and cranefly larvae, and with its barbless design, you never need to worry about causing unnecessary harm to fish or threading small glass beads onto the hook. The 1250 Dennis Glass Bead Hooks is made in sizes 12 through 18, making it an excellent choice for imitating a wide range of forage sizes.

Uses

The 1250 Dennis Glass Bead Hooks were designed around the use of glass beads, whether as the body, thorax, head, or combination of the three. Although this hook works perfectly with just about any glass bead, it works equally well when tying caddis larvae/pupae, scuds/sowbugs, and various other larvae that don't include any beads.

Comparisons

There isn't really another hook on the market that's built specifically for the use of glass beads, however, if you're not looking to tie flies with glass beads, then Tiemco's TMC 2487BL Barbless Shrimp & Caddis Pupae Hook is a great choice. The TMC 2487BL is super sharp and features a continuous bend, down eye, and barbless point, making it very similar to Daiichi's 1250 Dennis Glass Bead Hook, but it won't provide the ease of use when using glass beads, so if that's what you're after, it's best to stick with Daiichi's 1250.

Example Flies

Although the 1250 Dennis Glass Bead Hooks offer the ability to tie a diverse range of flies, the Killer Caddis is definitely the most popular pattern that uses this hook.
