Clarks Cicada Fly

Clarks Cicada Fly

Super clear waters with massive trout looking for calorie-rich terrestrials in New Zealand, or bass buggin on the local pond with Dog-Day Cicadas serenading you, Clarks Cicada Fly is a pattern that you can trust anytime these big bugs are on the water. Designed by Clark Reid of New Zealand to match the annual cicadas, this pattern features a spun deer hair body and head with a realistic synthetic wing and a set of plastic eyes. These materials come together to give an excellent cicada imitation that floats well and lands on the water with an enticing 'plop.'

This is a fly that you will want to fish whenever the annual cicadas are around, so think mid to late summer, and should you find yourself in a 13 or 17-year periodical emergence, you will want to choose a cicada that matches their orange and black appearance. Clarks Cicada Fly is a great prospecting fly and is also buoyant enough to allow you to add a dropper nymph, and this is a fly that you can confidently fish in fast, slow, and even still water. Carry at least a couple in your box anywhere you might find cicadas, and you will see that this bug gives some of the most fun fishing there is.
